We meet all the locals and get an insight into the way they think from Sookie’s glimpses into their thoughts. Set in sleepy Bon Temps, Louisiana much of the book centres around the local bar where Sookie Stackhouse works. Encompassing more than just vampires, we also meet shape shifters and our heroine reads minds. It has taken away some of the work of my imagination though, as I don’t need to create images of the characters, I already have them.ĭead Until Dark is a thoroughly engaging read for all fans of the vampire genre, whether you are familiar with the characters or not. I don’t think this has detracted from my enjoyment of the book or my love of the TV series. I find myself picturing the show as I read along. I just wanted to get you in my headspace before I started.įor those of you who are True Blood fans and have watched the series, this is an easy read covering the beginning of the first season. So on that note, I am now going to go off and read it. I must say I have a little bit of that going on but the excitement far outweighs it. I also know a lot of huge fans of the True Blood series that are interested in the books but hesitant to take that step and immerse themselves, just in case the books ruin the series for them.
So when I got this one I wanted to clear my schedule and start immediately. When I heard there was a possibility I might get to review them I could hardly contain myself. I have been salivating at the thought of being able to sink my fangs into this series for such a long time.
